Freestyle Chess Style at Trigger Fish

Sunday's "Recovery Chess" event was perfect. Forget intense silence; this was about cool tunes, good friends, and the simple joy of the game at The Trigger Fish. The absolute highlight? Watching my 4-year-old daughter, Kina, take on the board. Her focus was stronger than a pawn storm. This is what it's all about—sharing a passion with the next generation. Of course, it also means I'm now officially training the kid who will be mercilessly checkmating me in a few years.

My son's chess tournament today was a masterclass in not panicking. He started out looking more like a pawn in traffic than a king in his castle, but he completely turned it around to finish with an awesome 4/6! It’s a great reminder that resilience is the most powerful piece on the board. Future game plan: more practice on openings, fewer heart attacks for Dad. ♟️

Spontaneous Sunday Showdown!

Who knew a casual Sunday at the Triggerfish Market would turn into an epic chess showdown? We certainly didn't! What started as a fun day out became an unplanned, high-stakes (okay, maybe just for bragging rights) tournament. Thanks to everyone who watched and cheered. It's proof that you can find a checkmate opportunity anywhere, even between craft beer and pizza!
